The Role of Ritual in Marriage

The sense of ritual as a community activity seems like what's happening with the ritual is that you're opening to something. You see that's very clearly in bar mitzvahs. Yeah and this happens with marriages like we've we've done a perform marriages for people over the years. In one case a couple had lived together for 10 years and then they're getting married. So I could use the marriage ritual as a renewal or both an acknowledgement of a relationship that's been but a renewal of that relationship in a new way. And so it was in that particular case we were doing the marriage at the Alabama Mountain State Park which and these mounds were always kind of recreated every year
