How to Wash Up as You Cook

I saw a couple of people recommending washing up as you go along. That doesn't make any sense to me. Has anybody who does this ever cooked a meal, like actually cooked a meal? By the time you're done with washing up, the food is cold. So yes, the going along as your cooking thing is insanity. It's a terrible idea. And it also goes against the whole idea of batch processing.
