CNN's John Defterios has not been in Taiwan for the last few months. He says there is a sense among Taiwanese that they need to take China more seriously. But he also thinks their military readiness isn't up to snuff, as it was with Japan. "I think just in general, I'm actually somewhat optimistic that this is a good wake up call," defterios says.
