The History of Cybersecurity
Bill Gates turned Microsoft on a dime to implement trustworthy computing. The US Congress passed four new laws and an industry association agreed to one set of standards that have shaped the cybersecurity landscape ever since. In 2000, Internet Founding Father Vince Serf coined the phrase cyber hygiene when he testified to the United States Congress Joint Economic Committee. And in 2005, Brad Fitzpatrick developed the first-generation OpenID authentication protocol.
