Feudalism and the End of History, You Know?
Dean Obeidallah: Amorozov is trying to deal with a genuine question, which is the nature of capitalist society. How do you account for capitalism in the absence of the challenge posed to capital by organized labor? He says feudalism was peasants had autonomy in matters of production but little overall autonomy and landlords didn't have incentive to increase productivity. A feudal lords intervened relatively little in this production process; any surplus that was produced by the peasants was openly appropriated from them by the landlord.
