Abigail Adams was really angry with Jefferson for all sorts of reasons by now. She never wanted to see her talk with him again frankly but his daughter dies and so she says I can't help but write to you even though the ancient affection is over because I felt so strongly about your daughter. But then Jefferson instead of just saying thank you makes one of the big mistakes of his life he writes back  to Abigail Adams in 1804. John Adams would have sat down with his vice president Thomas Jefferson and said look I probably need to fill these offices that's my constitutional duty let's talk about this.
