Learn a Foreign Language?
Alexander's doctoral adviser instilled in him the sense of language as being a natural thing. Most americans, on the other hand, think of it is almost something mystical and they are like, wow, it takes a genius to learn this. Another way is that we do not know how to study it. A lot of people will do things like memorizing lists of words, trying to quote anquote, master the grammar. These are really things which just lead to frustration and really boredom.
