There's no set standard of how to handle vacation rentals, and so they've left it up mostly the local municipalities to make the rules. Some areas require you to remit, like, quarterly or monthly payments to them for taxes. There's all kinds of different rules and laws and regulations depending on the area. It's easy for a city council who knows nothing about vacation rentals to just make a law because they have angry constituents saying, it a party house next me. But at the same time, i think it scares people away from doing air b and b.
