The Biggest Sedition Trial in US History
30 people were charged with scheming to establish a Nazi government in the United States. One of the defendants, Edward James Smythe, was missing when the trial opened. The FBI said he appeared to be on his way out of the country, masquerading as a vacationing fisherman. It took a few days, but they eventually did find him and hauled him into court.
