Sed Contra: A Podcast of Catholic Theology
Is the New Sacramental Bond of a Subsequent Marriage Dissolving the Natural Bond?
Aquinas says that it's the new sacramental bond of a subsequent marriage that would dissolve the natural bond. The reason being that if there are two bonds that are contrary to each other and one of them is stronger, then that one will dissolve the other. That seems right to me. I don't know how that relates to this particular question that Daniel's raising exactly but yeah that seems correct to me although as you say I'm not a canon lawyer either but it seems right.
