The Patterns of Dependent Marking in Languages

In a dependent marked language, you will generally have case marking for roles. A head marking language will go in for either poly personal agreement or noun incorporation. Head marking is the most common in languages of the Americas, Australia and New Guinea. It's not particularly common in African languages unless you are a Bantu language.
