Purity and Impurity in Leviticus – Leviticus E5

BibleProject

CHAPTER

Is Impurity Contagious?

Being ritually impure is contagious. Holiness, which is the opposite end of the spectrum, is contagious. When people come into contact with the holy foods of the temple, that holiness get transferred to them. But being in a pure state is not contagious. Luke has it intentionally placed in his healing narratives the people who would be populating the list of leviticus 11 through 15. Uniquely, jesus touches dead bodies. He touches people a woman leaking menstral blood. He goes into the poems of non israelites who would not be eating kosher. It's truly remarkable.
