The Value of Diversity in the US

I think that my job is very lucky to be in. I basically got a very kind offer when at the time I thought about moving from Cambridge to the West Coast for a while. It's more easy to be somebody like Stephen Wolfram here than it is, say, in Berlin or Vienna or even in New York. So there seems to be value in diversity of thought and there used to be one of the greatest things about the US. But now we often forget that because we don't contrast it with other societies.
