In America at least and probably in other western countries as well, we started treating death as a physical disease almost. Why are modern Americans so uncomfortable with death? Was there a time when death was more integrated into our daily lives? Dying is social. It's a communal event but we've taken it out of the home. We've made it something to be frightened of. In reality life is a terminal illness. We're all dying from the moment we're born.
