Anite alaska walfish survived nearly a year in auschwitz before being sent to the berg and belsen camp in northern germany. She was finally liberated by british troops on the fifteenth of april 19 forty five. Five days after liberation she made these recordings at belson. It's quite certain, i think, that if we had not come when we did, very few of the 30 thousand survivors we found there would have left the camp alive. What i saw there myself will always haunt me.
