The King of the Kingdom is also our Father. Matthew makes 44 times in his Gospel that we are not just subjects of the Kingdom, we're sons of the Father. The first theme that comes up again and again and again is the theme of faith. A subject of the Kingdom as son of the Father lives by faith, by believing, by going on believing. That's his theme, how to be a disciple of Jesus, how to go on with Jesus once you've come to him. And it's very important when we are seeking to live as subjects of the King of Heaven to remember that we can call him Abba Father.
