Are There Women in the Tortures Guild?

There are no women in the Tortures Guild because Yamar the Almost Just, who we learn is an autark and we'll hear a little bit more about him later, observed that when he gave orders for torture, the women would much more commonly go above and beyond what was specifically ordered to be tortured. So this is a stereotype, right? Yes. Is it a lie? I don't know if it is a lie. But maybe like the tradition, this is the lie that they lean on to justify the separation of Tortures that used to be men and women together. The women then were separated and presumably became the guild of the witches.
