Seem My Friend was delayed because Larry Page wanted to make a cover of Ray's Ring the Bells. The group had a contract with Shell Tell Me, which said he would be their producer. They couldn't release anything Tell Me hadn't produced but Page wouldn't let them do that. Seem My Friend became the group's next single and made the top 10 on record retailer chart. But it only spent a few weeks on the NME chart - where more people paid attention at the time. It then went in a different direction as they decided to go for softer folk-inspired songs. Quiet Kings saw Ray Davis write gentle social satayas with complex lyrics.
