Morality Versus Practicality
The author says that morality and ethics stem out of a competitive need to defeat other groups. A group that can defeat a prisoner's dilemma, all things being equal, will tend to outcompete a group that is functioning totally on self-interest. "We're not comfortable talking about grace if we're not ah in a house of worship," he writes.
