Ali Khatib says he secured funding by finding a position at a university. He was lucky to be "a good negotiator" and could decide his topics on his own. It's very easy to be an independent researcher if youare just rich, said Khatib. But em so so, ye, you need to find a certain space in your life that will allow you to do what you want with your time.
