Mass society emerges in early 20th century as inflection point between number of people you have and sophistication of technology. That creates a force multiplier for the exploited half of the human equation. And that conflict was what defined the 19th and 20th centuries. We live in the aftermath of the domination and victory of capital, but we still have all this technology.
