Is D2 Better Than D3?

The active metabolite of vitamin D is called calcitryol. Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which are important for bones. It also works in our kidneys where it's actually made to increase the amount of calcium that gets reabsorbed so that we're not peeing out as much calcium. And then it does this weird, slightly counterintuitive thing, where it also stimulates our bone cells, specifically osteoclasts, which are responsible for breaking down bone to release calcium.
