The Life and Times of Ibn Batuta
Ibn Batuta would have found the intellectual capital of the Arabic speaking world in Cairo. He was impressed by Alexandria, noting it's two harbors, one for Christians and the other for Muslims. The great pyramids got a cursory mention, and even then, he refers to them as a single structure, not several. This leads some people to speculate that Ibn Batuta never actually went to the pyramids.
