The Role of the United States in the Middle East

The United States really cares deeply about the Middle East for three main reasons oil Israel and terrorism right we worry about these disruptions to energy markets this idea that political instability or wars between Saudi Arabia and Iran could bring the American economy to its knees. We don't want Israel to be overrun by terrorists or terrorist states or some combination of the two and we worry about terrorism especially after September the 11th. But I don't think a robust on-the-ground presence American presence in the Middle East has really redounded to Israel's benefit right? The US role in the region is not helping that process forward to the benefit of Israel.
