The Rise of Solitary Confinement in Supermax Prisons

CNN's John Sutter talks about the role of solitary confinement in supermax prisons. He says it began as a psychological experiment to isolate people and remold them through this practice into compliant prisons. The idea that you could kind of break down someone's personality to a blank slate and then rebuild them with some new ideology came from communist brainwashing, he says.
