The Mystery of Harriet Bessemer

Harriet Bessemer suffered two blows to the head which split open her skull. Her once beautiful face had been disfigured by her injuries, leaving one eye blind and the other constantly twitching. Harriet hazily recalled that a quote, mulatto man had attacked her. Louis Uberschahn, a light-skinned black shop assistant who occasionally worked at Bessemer's store, was arrested in connection with the attack.
