The Rise and Fall of Oruch and Ilias in the Eastern Mediterranean
Oruch, Ilias, Ishak, and Hesiod were four brothers originally from Lesbos. Oruch was the first of the brothers to turn to the seafaring life. He took command of a squadron of warships under the patronage of an Ottoman prince named Korkud. They offered their ships, soldiers, and growing wealth to the Muslim states of North Africa.
