Exploring Free-Threading and the Future of Python Package Management

This chapter discusses the community's excitement over the experimental introduction of free-threading in Python and highlights issues related to high bandwidth usage from PyPI downloads. A new package format called the RIM file is proposed as a solution, which facilitates external hosting of package binaries while addressing security and maintenance challenges.
