I feel like times are very confusing ones, we just constantly more and more filled with things that we need to do urgently. And therefore you should just make the most of what time you have right now and go and do something. So if you're serious about having an adventure, you need to find a blank chunk in your calendar, block it off and defend it with your life. Then around that, I think it's really important just to look at the time you could just quit your job and clear off and have a bigger adventure. If you want to keep normal life as well, I think then you have to take an honest look at the routines of your days and weeks and see where
Alastair Humphreys is the author of my all-time favourite books on the topic of adventure and getting more out of life.
He was awarded the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award for his work. He cycled around the world over four years and has since rowed the Atlantic, ran the Marathon de Sables, and walked across India amongst numerous other adventures.
Perhaps his greatest success, however, is pioneering the concept of micro-adventures, encouraging anyone to experience the outdoors and thrillseeking within an hour of their doorstep.
