Ideas like free will scepticism can be really powerful therapeutically. Having it in your back pocket, exertorilly bencan tat, can exertay beneficial effect on behaviour. In an ideal world you would deploy the idea of free will in some cases and the idea of determinism in others. It is still bulshet. As an intellectual matter, they have not rendered compatible the two traditional schools of thought that we thought to be in opposition. Those two schools of thought are in opposition. That's wher the rubber the rod wise.
