The final conclusion to this week long debate enraged everybody. The delegates agreed that literally putting the word slavery in the constitution didn't look too good, and so they changed it to unfree persons. This was still a major blow against the idea that race per se had anything to do with citizenship. When news of the rebell amendment hits san domang in july 17 91, it will immediately spark a white revolt in the colony.
