The Power of First-Person Authority
Talia Mae Betcher argues that gender is the sort of thing over which we should have first-person authority. So if someone disagrees with us, they're doing something even worse than what that doctor would be doing. It's an anti-violence-eating oppression. You're denying something that this person has the authority to a search. And also something else Betcher says is if you deny people's gender identifications, then that as Catherine Jenkins also said, Betcher says this is going to perpetuate viewing trans people as evil deceivers or make-believers.
