Introduction

This is the Near Future Laboratory podcast episode 49. On or about August of 2022, a series of conversations were recorded with a number of researchers and designers who had gathered to reflect on the state of design. These recordings have become known as the Windermere tapes. Although incomplete, the recordings capture the mood at the time as regards how design and particularly futures-oriented design can be brought to bear in order to invigorate collective action.
