The Hawthorne Effect
This is one of the major complicating factors for me of all statistics. You can only get 200 people to take place to take your study. It's got to be people who just had knee surgery in the last six months and are otherwise, you know, their blood pressure is in a certain range. And they have to sign up for the thing. But even then, if they're aware there's a medicament, they want to get better. They're not aware. Even studies that encompass 10,000 people, when you account for all of the variation, it just feels like they're lies, they're damn lies, and then they're statistics.
