The distinction between normative and empirical really is not that complicated in most practical realms. In terms of the research, I don't think it's perfect. There are days when I'm troubled by the political bias,. That political bias is mostly left. Almost everyone under the age of 50 who does research - especially in certain areas like empirical micro -- is left of center.
