The idea for Substack came to Chris and his co-founder Hamish back in 2017. "I started writing what I thought was going to be an essay or a blog post that was kind of just detailing my frustrations with the state of media and the internet," he says. The pair were both subscribers to Ben Thompson's trajectory at the time, and we were like, you know, that dude's making right.
