The Mental Block and Learning

Barbara was diagnosed with a mental block when she was in first grade. At the time, doctors believed that our brains were fixed and there was nothing you could do about it. Barbara says her teacher told her: "All of your schooling is going to be a struggle" She describes learning as 'a slow and steady race' for her.
