William Donovan: The Precursor to the CIA
William Donovan is essentially the head of the precursor to the CIA. He was shot in the leg with a machine gun while he was commanding his troops and eventually got the Medal of Honor. During World War II, FDR sends Donovan to Europe to feel out how what the tensions are between countries. Donovan comes back telling FDR that he thinks it's inevitable that another war will break out. And he urges Roosevelt to create some kind of centralized intelligence organization.
