Chris George: Are we setting up when we set up the character? Does it have to be anything to do with what the scene is going to be? Or are we just trying to be specific to paint a picture so the reader is entertained? It depends. You might write the scene and then go back and tweak the stage direction based on what you need the reader to know at the time. I kind of like, and this is half about me. Who knows?
