The Rejection of Daniel Boorstin by Richard Hofstadter

Daniel Boorstin was an explicit rejection of Hofstadter's approach to history. He is much less interested in that idea that Hofstadter had of himself as being a literature, writes David Frum. For Boor stin popular history was supposed to be practical and enjoyable for Americans because it made them feel proud. So he becomes a booster for the United States in some senses with his three volumes.
