GPT's opening AI might be immune under the 47 USC section 230 statute, which limits liability or prevents people from being reliable when they're passing along online material. It would be very different if what it did was it found a quote somewhere in some unreliable source and then passed it along. But here again, we're talking about things with where, chat GPT is after just made it up. The third question is publication. While you hear a lot about publication in libel law, that's not what you and I usually think of as publication.
