How to Deal With Rejection
I try not to take rejection personally. My work isn't for everyone. I don't love the sound of the word love, so it doesn't feel as good in the mouth as a word with a bright verb. If they're rejected it helps me to remember that they're not rejecting me as a person. They just didn't like those four poems that day. It's probably one person who has their own pet peeves and stylistic taste. But those four poems might really land with another human being on a different day, someplace else. And what is your favorite word? I do not have one.
