The Adventures of Edward Trinket-Cope
Edward Trinket-Cope is an absolute prodigy. He comes from a rich, quicker family but lost his mother when he was three. His father calls a halt to his formal education at the age of 15 so that he can become a farmer. But Edward rebels and persuades his despairing father to sign him up to lectures by Joseph Leedy. Within a year he has helped his young student win election to the prestigious Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences. When he inherits a farm in 1861, Coke uses the proceeds to finance his scientific career following the tradition of the amateur gentleman scientist.
