The Challenges of Tracing Transnational History
I was wondering if you could also talk about some of the challenges of doing work like this, because I think some of our listeners will be less familiar with it. Are there different types of difficulties or challenges that you found in trying to tell this narrative and craft this story? You know, that's more a question of digging, of spending time in the archives,. But perhaps the more complex methodological problem is then placing these different levels of contact between the US and China in my case, in conversation with one another and that shows the causation in the relationship in an effective way.
