The Importance of Money in Relationships

I was dating a dude on and off for a while who would constantly be like would it be so nice if I could come with you to X, Y and Z. And then there was one time where I offered to pay for his like ticket and then he like made up this excuse  and then I was like well it's either you want to come or you don't want to come is it a pride thing?
