How to Report Spinal Canal Stenosis

When you report a spinal canal stenosis, do you specify in your report what is contributing to the stenosis? For example, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, discostia phic complex. Do you specifically state what is causing the mild or moderate stenosis? Because that will clearly affect the surgeon's approach. If it's densely calcified disc osteophyte complex, well, that will probably preclude them from being from doing an ACDF and they have to do a posterior approach. So I think saying what you think is causing it is absolutely important for them to be able to make the appropriate surgical treatment decisions.
