How Did You Become a Clinical Psychologist?
i'm a clinical psychologist by trade, but my specialization was in a field called health psychology. And if people aren't familiar with what health psychology is as discipline, it's really like the intersection between physical and mental ailment. When i was doing my doctoral programme, i wrote a dissertation looking at demoralization and how it relates to people who have physical ailment and diagnoses. So we found that most people who experience chronic ailment, whether it's cardio vascular disease, dietbe hes, especially chronic pain, um cancer, these individuals experience a fair amount of hopelessness and helplessness. That significantly relates to overall treatment outcomes both physiologically and psychologically.
Welcome back to another episode of the Hano health podcast. I got another special one for you, and I don't mean to bombard you with all things, Ben Greenfield, but this is two weeks in a row that we wanted to release some content from Ben Greenfield.
Now it's not actually an interview with Ben Greenfield. It's actually me on Ben Greenfield's podcast.
