Gustav von Aschenbach is an aging writer in his early 50s. He sees a young Polish family, and among them, at someone he views as the most beautiful person in the world. The story is basically about his increasing attraction, infatuation, with Tajo. And alongside this growing obsession, there's this growing rumour of the sickness pervading Venice.
