The Importance of National Security in New Zealand

I don't think we have necessarily had a particularly well-informed debate about national security generally and to some extent defence. I think the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Mosca Tech has been really helpful in urging the government of the day to actually now be more open. We've established Hennua Todikuta the Research Centre on National Security Issuesparticularly on terrorism and counterterrorism. These documents today are I think demonstrated willingness to start getting out there and saying here's the thinking following some level of engagement but let's have the debateLet's have the discussion.
