The balloonsbury introduction to world philosophy is set up in such a way that instructors can pick it up and use it as a base for teaching the class. tanabe hajime was somebody who studied german idealism and nelcantian philosophy slash feminology, a very contemporary german philosophy. They felt their own intellectual traditions had something to offer that european intellectual tradition didn't have resources to or prior discussions. Just like east asiaan intellectual traditions don't have access to the monolithic framework of the divine absolute and religion.
